For over 75 years, we have connected people with Cecil’s past by collecting and preserving the county’s history and we count on membership dues to help fund this endeavor.
Through your membership you help connect people to the county’s past through our library and its significant collection of rare books, manuscripts and photographs; our outreach services, helping others understand county history; a website that attracts hundreds of visitors monthly; our museum, which contains fascinating displays; and our widely distributed print newsletter.
By joining the Society at levels higher than basic you particularly help to support the Society’s undertakings.
Ways to Join
You can become a member online or by sending your payment by mail (the old-fashioned way!). Membership renewal is on an annual, calendar year basis. Members joining on or after August 1st will receive credit for the remaining months of the year of receipt as well as a full 12 months in the following period.

You will receive your membership package about two weeks after we receive the information.
Online Payment with Paypal
Select the appropriate category and click on the “buy now” button below. It will take you to a secure PayPal page for payment. Even if you don’t have a PayPal account, you may use a credit card on PayPal. Provide the requested information, which includes a field for providing special instructions, such as for a gift membership.
You will receive your membership package in about two weeks.
Benefits of Membership
All members receive The Inkwell, the Historical Society of Cecil County’s newsletter. Members use the library for free and receive discounts on copy services. Members also get discounts on books available from the Society, attend the meetings and functions we sponsor, but above all enjoy that unique feeling of knowing they are helping to preserve the rich history of Cecil County.
“Members Only” material will revolve annually so we encourage you to renew your membership. Make sure to renew your membership to have access to new material.
Levels of Membership
Basic – $25: All of the above and membership card for one individual.
Family — $30: All of the above and two membership cards for people residing at one address.
Contributor — $50: All of the above and knowledge that your additional contribution advances the mission of the Society.
Sponsor — $100: All of the above and knowledge that your additional contribution greatly advances the mission of the Society.
Student — $10: For full time students, all of the benefits of a basic membership.
Life — $1000: All of the above and knowledge that your additional contribution advances the mission of the Society – for LIFE!
